- Open root explorer
- Tick mount R/W ( So that you can edit system file )
- Extract the content of the file that you download just now and overwrite original vold.fstab with the downloaded vold.fstab in the \system\etc folder.
- Tick mount R/O
- Restart your phone and enjoy.
How to unswap :
- Open root explorer
Download Root Explorer :
Mediafire | UFile | Jumbofiles
- Tick mount R/W [at top right] ( So that you can edit system file )
- Download original vold.fstab :
Mediafire | UFile | Jumbofiles
- Find the backup of the original vold.fstab and overwrite current vold.fstab with the original vold.fstab in the \system\etc folder
- Tick mount R/O
- Restart
It should be like this when you successfully swap your memory:
My phone is always lag and not enough space in Ram memory as i often found that most of my apps often runs by itself such as services whenever i clear it even by using pro launcher with it's go power master. Is there a way to improve our phone performance so that it won't be so laggy or stop so much autoruns?
ReplyDeleteYou can try Autokiller Memory Optimizer : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autokiller&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnJzLmF1dG9raWxsZXIiXQ..
DeleteYou can also stop running process manually by go to setting > app > running apps. You can choose any app u want to stop here.
IT'S ME AGAIN. I am a starter and don't know what does it do to swap all the memory, what's that for?
ReplyDeleteits mean your external sd card become usb storage and your usb storage become external sd card..
Deleteit should be like this when you have successfully swap memory: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1K7ctkLB5U8/T6LBLm4P5iI/AAAAAAAADp8/bPqHF5w2-hw/s1600/swap-succeed.jpg

excuse me...i recently flashed a custom rom, which is kezra planes v 4 final optimized stock rom...or something like that...in this rom...memory is already swaped..i want to unswap it (as my sd card is not of higher class, and is laggy)...i want usb storage back to 1.7gb ...what should I do? Should i follow the unswapping method mentioned above...? Help me as I dont want to take any risk by myself and do it in a safer way...Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteyes. tutorial above updated.
Deleteabove swap and unswap tutorial are safe. and you should follow every steps carefully.
you dont have to worry about anything because when you done unswap your phone memory, you will realise that unswap memory so easy since you only need to replace ONE system file. that's all.
so, don't worry. it's safe to unswap using above method. :)
And if m gonna unswap it like the method mentioned above...then plz plz plz provide me the back up file (vold.fstab) as I dont have it because my custom rom had already memory swaped...i m gonna need that file to overwrite my current one in order to unswap memory...plz provide that back up file...thanks a lot!! :)
ReplyDeletethe backup file is uploaded
Deletewow.. its so simple. so easy. thanks for this tutorial....
ReplyDeleteyou r welcome :)
Deleteis this safe? what if i flash my phone without unswaping?
ReplyDeletesorry i'm not really understand your question.
Deletethere is no need to flash anything in swap or unswap.
swap or unswap just need to replace a system file.
thats all..
no need to flash anything
sorry im not good in english i mean if i decide to flash my phone and my phone external/internal was already swap, is this safe if i try to reflash it? Even my phone are swap? or i must to unswap it first before i reflash my phone?
Deleteno need to unswap if u want to flash anything or if u want to flash stock rom back via odin..
Deleteit is totally safe to swap..
swap with sd card class 4 can or not? Sory my english bad.
ReplyDeleteYes. you can swap with sdcard class 4.
DeleteI recommend swap your phone using class 6 and above because it have faster write/read speed.
But, class 4 is ok. Not too slow and not too fast also.
If you swap using sdcard class 4, make sure not to install too many useless apps since it can slow your phone down
Owh.. Tq.. But when i exit from one app 2 menu my phne was loading liltle bit slow.. Is that ok or not? Some of pic in my gallery canot be delete is that call virus?
ReplyDeleteIt is normal if using sdcard class 4.
DeleteDelete the pics using a computer. Connect your phone to a computer and delete the pics.
Let me know if it's working or not.
Cannot find that picture... Idon know where the file location.. Pic details 'unknown'.
ReplyDeleteCan you delete the pics using My File. If cant, try to use gallery to delete it.
DeleteIf it's still there, try to connect your phone to a computer.
Then, copy all folders and files in your sdcard to your computer.
Format your sdcard.
Copy and paste all your folders and files that you copy to your computer earlier to sdcard.
Then, find the pics that you cant delete before. It should be gone now.
i'll try... tq 4 ur information.

ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate some help and advice. I already swapped the memory. I tried to find the storage info like one you screen captured above but couldn't find it. I look under setting > storage, but it different from yours. I looked under Applications > Memory usage, but still different.
Mine is 2.3.6 android version. Under USB debugging mode, I can only see 2 type of storage (internal 1.7GB and 14GB). Where does the other 1.7GB internal memory goes? I know that the phone have two 1.7GB internal memory, but couldn't find it via the AndroidZip or when connected to PC. Any ideas?
tq boy..

hey i'm using cm9 alpha 7 when i tried swaping my ext memory is 8gb. after reboot it's still boot on the cm9 screen. is t that long or there's something wong with the swapping?
ReplyDeleteCm9 has a features for swapping internal/external no need to do this tweak LOL
DeleteHow to swap Cm9?
Setting>Storage>Storage Configuration>Check Use Internal storage.
Restart Cm9 then you external was already you internal memory.
Will save the settings when I flash cm9 to cm10 ?
DeleteI tried this on CM9a7 and it also left me stuck at the boot screen. I re-applied the cm9 zip file using the clockwork recovery menu in order to repair the filesystem.
ReplyDeleteI realised that I'd applied it to /etc rather than /system/etc but both ways prevents the OS from booting.
I eventually used root explorer to edit the /system/etc/vold.fstab file in a text editor and hand-edited the mount points.
Cm9 has a features for swapping internal/external no need to do this tweak LOL

ReplyDeleteThis maybe cause u dont follow the steps carefully.
DeleteThere are only 2 ways to solve this problem.
1. Restore the backup if u make a backup before doing this.
2. If u dont, you need to flash back to stock rom: http://mygalaxywonder.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-flash-and-install-stock-rom.html .
Also, make sure your phone is rooted before doing this.
