How to swap and unswap memory in Samsung Galaxy W I8150

How to swap:

Before swap:
- Make sure you move all apps and games to phone memory (internal usb)
- Root your phone (Click here to root your phone)
- Install Root Explorer
Download Root Explorer :
Mediafire  |  UFile  |  Jumbofiles
- Make a backup folder in \sdcard

- Open root explorer, go to folder \system\etc
- Make a backup for vold.fstab file (copy vold.fstab file to your backup folder). Just in case.

Next:
- Download modified vold.fstab :
Mediafire  |  UFile  |  Jumbofiles
- Open root explorer
- Tick mount  R/W ( So that you can edit system file )
- Extract the content of the file that you download just now and overwrite original vold.fstab with the downloaded vold.fstab in the \system\etc folder.
- Tick mount  R/O
- Restart your phone and enjoy.

How to unswap :
- Open root explorer
Download Root Explorer :
Mediafire  |  UFile  |  Jumbofiles
- Tick mount  R/W [at top right] ( So that you can edit system file )
- Download original vold.fstab :
Mediafire  |  UFile  |  Jumbofiles
- Find the backup of the original vold.fstab and overwrite current vold.fstab with the original vold.fstab in the \system\etc folder
- Tick mount  R/O
- Restart

It should be like this when you successfully swap your memory:

  1. My phone is always lag and not enough space in Ram memory as i often found that most of my apps often runs by itself such as services whenever i clear it even by using pro launcher with it's go power master. Is there a way to improve our phone performance so that it won't be so laggy or stop so much autoruns?

    1. You can try Autokiller Memory Optimizer : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autokiller&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnJzLmF1dG9raWxsZXIiXQ..
You can also stop running process manually by go to setting > app > running apps. You can choose any app u want to stop here.

    1. yes. tutorial above updated.
above swap and unswap tutorial are safe. and you should follow every steps carefully.
you dont have to worry about anything because when you done unswap your phone memory, you will realise that unswap memory so easy since you only need to replace ONE system file. that's all.
so, don't worry. it's safe to unswap using above method. :)

    1. Yes. you can swap with sdcard class 4.
I recommend swap your phone using class 6 and above because it have faster write/read speed.
But, class 4 is ok. Not too slow and not too fast also.
If you swap using sdcard class 4, make sure not to install too many useless apps since it can slow your phone down

Delete the pics using a computer. Connect your phone to a computer and delete the pics.
Let me know if it's working or not.

    1. Can you delete the pics using My File. If cant, try to use gallery to delete it.
If it's still there, try to connect your phone to a computer.
Then, copy all folders and files in your sdcard to your computer.
      Format your sdcard.
Copy and paste all your folders and files that you copy to your computer earlier to sdcard.
Then, find the pics that you cant delete before. It should be gone now.

  12. Hi,
I appreciate some help and advice. I already swapped the memory. I tried to find the storage info like one you screen captured above but couldn't find it. I look under setting > storage, but it different from yours. I looked under Applications > Memory usage, but still different.

Mine is 2.3.6 android version. Under USB debugging mode, I can only see 2 type of storage (internal 1.7GB and 14GB). Where does the other 1.7GB internal memory goes? I know that the phone have two 1.7GB internal memory, but couldn't find it via the AndroidZip or when connected to PC. Any ideas?

    1. Cm9 has a features for swapping internal/external no need to do this tweak LOL

      How to swap Cm9?

      Setting>Storage>Storage Configuration>Check Use Internal storage.
Restart Cm9 then you external was already you internal memory.

    2. Will save the settings when I flash cm9 to cm10 ?

  17. I tried this on CM9a7 and it also left me stuck at the boot screen. I re-applied the cm9 zip file using the clockwork recovery menu in order to repair the filesystem.
I realised that I'd applied it to /etc rather than /system/etc but both ways prevents the OS from booting.

I eventually used root explorer to edit the /system/etc/vold.fstab file in a text editor and hand-edited the mount points.

    1. This maybe cause u dont follow the steps carefully.
There are only 2 ways to solve this problem.
      1. Restore the backup if u make a backup before doing this.
      2. If u dont, you need to flash back to stock rom: http://mygalaxywonder.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-flash-and-install-stock-rom.html .
Also, make sure your phone is rooted before doing this.

    Here is the solution.

hey bro I faced the same problem and solved it easily
    1-install CWM
    2-boot into recovery
3-format /system and wipe cache and delvik cache
4-install new rom like CM-9-rc6 (prefered)
    5-fix permissions
    6-reboot

  44. There are many factors which influenced the development of buy memory and ram. Remarkably buy memory and ram is heralded by shopkeepers and investment bankers alike, leading many to state that buy memory and ram is not given the credit if deserves for inspiring many of the worlds famous painters.
